OVERVIEW:

Familial syndrome characterized clinically by a pellagrous rash, cerebellar ataxia, and mental retardation and biochemically by the loss of renal tubular and intestinal transport of neutral amino acids. Usual course - intermittent

CAUSES:

• abnormal intestinal amino acid transport
• abnormal renal tubular amino acid transport

TREATMENT


• nicotinamide
• high protein diet
